The Colson Family

No words can express the sincere appreciation felt toward the care-givers of your child, when you realize your child is learning the values of being a good person and student, and learning to be respectful of elders, other children, plants and animals, and the Earth while developing the qualities of becoming a leader. It is comforting to know that the care-givers believe in the same values as the parents. Children seem to have an infinite capacity to absorb an incredible amount of knowledge and information. Montessori teaching by the very capable teachers at Montessori Children’s House (MCH) brings out the best of our child.

For five months of the school year, we tried another very well-respected preschool/daycare in the Madison area because it was convenient for us in terms of the proximity to our home and work. We did not believe changing preschool providers would make much of a difference in our child because we feel, as any parent would, she will be the best under any circumstance. However, we saw a difference in our child. At first we thought it was because of the change, but then we realized our child gained more freedom in her learning in Montessori system. There is no arbitrary boundary to limit her curiosity. When we returned our child to MCH, we observed an immediate difference: She was happier, more energetic, and learning a wider variety of subject matter.

We especially like the fact that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in operations of MCH, and it is a great feeling when even a small contribution of helping out is made because as a parent, you know your child is the real beneficiary of your contribution. The staff and parents have done a tremendous job to create a new Discovery Garden where every child loves to explore. We are very pleased that MCH is right across the street from the Madison West YMCA and the children have easy access to the resources at the Y with regular visits in summer. Field trips have been exciting adventures for our child. The classrooms inside MCH are filled with unique Montessori instruments that assist our child’s learning.

MCH is truly a community. It is a community of staff, teachers, parents, children, friends, and neighbors. It is also a very culturally-diverse community. We especially enjoyed the times when the entire community comes together for special events such as year-end picnics and the Diversity Festival. We regret to have to leave MCH due to our relocation, but MCH has made us into such avid believers of the Montessori method, we have already enrolled our daughter into another Montessori at our new home. We will miss the family and community of MCH. MCH is under great and superb direction and leadership with a fantastic staff. Our thanks to everyone in MCH who makes this special experience so memorable.

Sincerely and with best wishes,
Xin and Aaron
